Help lay the foundation of Montreal's new orthodox Romanian church
We know that you are very busy and going through a difficult period due to the economic and financial crisis. But, maybe you can find just two minutes to read our call for building the new church, a place for prayer in today's very hard times.
We are a Romanian Orthodox Church. Like many other sister churches from the whole Christianity, we are functioning in a rented Anglican church. Every month, we have to pay a rent of CAD 1,300 and we have to start our service after our Anglican hosts finished theirs. Like all Christian sister communities, we dream of having our own place of prayer.
Our Lord blessed and on June 12 this year, we purchased a property (land and an old Anglican church in a very poor condition, which will have to be demolished). The address of the property is 5845 Upper Lachine Road, NDG, Montreal, Canada. It is here that we want to build the new church.
We can obtain financing from the bank, but we need to bring our own contribution for that. This is why we kindly ask you, if you will, to help us lay the foundation of our new church.
If you can't help us financially, at least pray for us and send this message forward.
May our Lord bless you and your family where you need most.
DETAILS REGARDING THE PURCHASE OF THE PROPERTY:
Purchase price - CAD 250,000, of which:
- Duration of the mortgage - 5 years
- Interest rate - 6% per year
- The amount to be paid monthly is CAD 640 (monthly amortization calculated on a 25 years basis)
- The loan has to be paid in full at the end of the five years (we will still have to pay around CAD 60,000), but we can make early payments, without any penalty.
- We are forced through a contractual clause to finish the building of the new church within eight months from obtaining the demolishing permit for the old church (the old church serves as collateral for the CAD 100,000 mortgage).
We will build a new church and a parish house (see the attached picture of the future church, according to the vision of the architect Victor Simion and his team). The estimated construction price is CAD 500,000.
The bank can finance 50% of the project value (meaning CAD 250,000) with the condition of already having the other 50% (that is CAD 250,000)
If we delay the beginning of the construction project with more than four weeks, we risk loosing the property (we will not have the necessary time to finish the construction before winter and we will fail the contractual clause regarding the new construction).
This is why we come to you and ask for a helping hand. Any amount is welcome. Small drops from many springs make the river strong and powerful.
